Why We Exist

Across Africa, the misuse of public resources, the increase in illicit financial flows, weak accountability systems, and opaque governance structures continue to undermine sustainable development and erode public trust. With Parliaments having the authority to scrutinize public spending, expose misuse of funds, and demand accountability from government institutions, Public Accounts Committees (PAC’s) are uniquely positioned to restore public trust. When properly resourced, independent, and empowered, PACs can transform oversight from a formality into a force for real, lasting impact.
AFROPAC exists to transform this reality. By promoting collaboration among Public Accounts Committees throughout the African continent, we aim to establish a collective platform that enhances legislative capacity, encourages fiscal accountability, and empowers African parliaments to advocate for good governance and effective service delivery within the public sector.
